10th Game Design Analysis

Duck Hunt


Interactivity:
In this game, we use mouse to move the cross hair and left click to shoot.

Concept and Setting:
The concept of this game is the player use mouse to shoot ducks that appear on the screen. The player is given three chances to shoot them down. if the player shoot down the duck, the player will receive points. The player should shoot down the required number of ducks to move to the next round. This game can be played by single-player or multi-player.

Goals:
The goal of this game is to shoot down the moving ducks.

Challenge:
The challenge of this game is the player only have three chances to shoot the duck at a time.

Story:
Duck Hunt does not have a proper storyline or ending. After complete all rounds, the game will advance to round 0 which is more difficult and the game behaves erratically. In the end, it leads to a game over.



9th Game Design Analysis

Battle City


Interactivity:
In this game, we use arrow key to move the tank and Ctrl key to shoot.

Concept and Setting:
The concept of this game is the player control a tank to destroy enemy tanks and collect power-ups item. The enemy tanks attempt to destroy the player's base (represented as phoenix symbol), as well as the player's tank. A level is completed when the player destroy all enemy tanks. This game can be played by single-player or multi-player.

Goals:
The goal of this game is to protect the base and destroy all enemy tanks.

Challenge:
The challenge of this game is each map contains different types of terrain and obstacles. There are also several types of enemy tanks such as decoy tank that lure players away from their base so that another tank can destroy it.

Story:
Battle City does not have a proper storyline or ending. After complete all stages, the game will back to the stage one and continue.





8th Game Design Analysis

Puzzle Bobble



Interactivity:
In this game, we use left and right arrow key to change direction and up arrow key to fire the bubble.

Concept and Setting:
The concept of this game is at the start of each round, the arena will contain a prearranged pattern of color bubble. The player should control the pointer to aim and fires the bubble. If a bubble touches the same color of bubble, forming a group of three or more, those bubble are removed from the arena and point awarded. This game can be played by single-player or multi-player.

Goals:
The main goal of this game is to clear all the bubbles from the arena without any bubble crossing the bottom line

Challenge:
The challenge of this game is after every few shots, the ceiling of the arena will drop downwards slightly, along with all the bubbles stuck to it.

Story:
This game also known as Bust-a-Move and based on Bubble Bobble game. Its characteristically cute Japanese animation and music, along with its play mechanics and level design. 





7th Game Design Analysis

Sonic The Hedgehog


Interactivity:
In this game, we use arrow key to move and space bar to jump. To speed up, the player should hold the down arrow and press space bar.

Concept and Setting:
The concept of this game is the player should collect the rings and finish the stage. Collecting rings has it's purpose. Firstly, while Sonic is in possession of a ring, he cannot be harmed. If he collides with an enemy, he just loses the rings. However, when he does not have any rings, the player will loss a life. Secondly, if a hundred ring are collected, the player gets one more life. Thirdly, if the player approaches the finish with more than fifty rings, a giant golden ring will float above. It will lead player to enter to the Special Stages. Chaos Emerald can be obtained from this Special Stage. This game can be played by single-player or multi-player.

Goals:
The main goal of this game is the player have to stop Dr. Ivo Robotnik's plans by freeing his animal friends and collecting the Chaos Emeralds. The player needs to finish the six zones to move to the final zone where Sonic will fight Dr. Ivo Robotnik.

Challenge:
The player has to finish all zones and get the Chaos Emerald from each Special Stage to meet the final boss. In each stages, there are obstacles such as spikes, bottomless pits and enemies that should be avoided. 

Story:
The story begin in South Island where Sonic have to go to save the animals that is kidnapped by Dr. Ivo Robotnik. Those animals will be used for Dr. Ivo Robotnik's plans which is domination world.




6th Game Design Analysis

Bubble Bobble


Interactivity:
In this game, we use arrow key to move and space bar to attack by blowing the bubble.

Concept and Setting:
The concept of this game is the player should control the cute dragon to avoid the enemies and collect a variety items. To get the items, the player should kill the enemies by blowing the bubble to the enemies and pop the bubble. After kill all the enemies, the game will move to the next stage. This game can be played by single-player or multi-player.

Goals:
The main goal of this game is to eliminate all enemies to move the next stage.

Challenge:
The challenge of this game is the player must avoid all enemies in complicated map. Once the enemy touch the cute dragon, a life is lost.

Story:
Cute looking dinosaurs or bubble dragons called Bub or Bob make their way through the cave of monsters to rescue their girlfriends.

5th Game Design Analysis

Bomberman


Interactivity:
In this game, we use arrow key to move and kick the bomb and delete key to put the bomb.

Concept and Setting:
The concept of this game is the player should put the bomb to destroy the wall and kill the enemies by trapping them. This game can be played by single-player or multi-player. 

Goals:
The main goal of this game is to kill the enemies.

Challenge:
The challenge of this game is the bomb that player put not only can kill the enemy, but also can kill the player. So, the player should place the bomb strategically.

Story:
Bomberman is growing bored of making bombs in an underground factory. After hearing a rumor that robots reaching the surface become human, he decides to escape. When he does, he transform into an organic human being and becomes known as the Runner.



4th Game Design Analysis

Donkey Kong


Interactivity:
In this game, we use arrow key to move forward or backward or climb the stairs and space bar to jump.

Concept and Setting:
The concept of this game is the player control jump-man as the main character to avoid the obstacles and save the lady. The obstacles can be fireball, barrel, and so on. This game can only be played by single player.

Goals:
The main goal of this game is to save the lady who is jump-man girlfriend.

Challenge:
The challenge of this game is the player must avoid all obstacles in accurate time.

Story:
The Jump-man must save his girlfriend who is kidnapped by his own gorilla pet named Donkey Kong.

3rd Game Design Analysis

Wonder Boy



Interactivity:
In this game, the player only can do jumping, running, and throwing axes. To control the main character, the user must use arrow key to move backward or forward, x key to jump, and z key to throw the axes. The player also can throw the axes while jumping.

Concept and Setting:
The concept of this game is the player controls Tom-Tom as main character to save his girlfriend, Tanya. Along the game, the main character should collect fruits or axes to avoid and kill the enemies. This game can only be played by single player.

Goals:
The main goal of this game is to guide Tom-Tom to save his girlfriend who has captured by a monster

Challenge:
The player must guide Tom-Tom through seven areas with four round each. On the way, Tom-Tom should collect fruits, power-ups item, axes, skateboard and so on. Power-ups item and skateboard can be obtained by breaking open eggs. Each item has special ability. For example, skateboard is used to accelerate his movement, axes is used to kill the enemy. Those item will be used by Tom-Tom to avoid and kill the enemies.

Story:
Tom-Tom is going to save his girlfriend who has captured by the evil boss, Daracon.

2nd Game Design Analysis

Pac-Man



Interactivity:
We use the arrow key to move Pac-Man.

Concept and Setting:
The concept of this game is the player controls Pac-Man through maze, avoiding from enemies and eating pac-dots (pellets). This game can be played by single player or multiplayer.

Goals:
The main goal of this game is to eat all pac-dots (pellets) to get the highest score.

Challenge:
There are four enemies roam the maze, trying to catch Pac-Man. If an enemy touches Pac-Man, a life is lost. When all lives have been lost, the game ends.

Story:
Pac-Man is an arcade game which is developed by Namco and designed by Toru Iwatani.

1st Game Design Analysis

Centipede 


Interactivity:
We use the arrow key to move and space button to attack the enemy.

Concept and Setting:
The concept of this game is the player defends against swarm insect. The setting of this game is it is designed for single player.

Goals:
The main goal of this game is to completing all the levels by eliminating the centipedes

Challenge:
Shooting any section of the centipede creates a mushroom. If the player shoot one of the middle segments, it will splits the centipede into two pieces at that point. Each piece will move independently. There is also spider that move across the player area in a zig-zag pattern.

Story:
Centipede is a vertically oriented shoot 'em up arcade game produced by Atari, Inc. in 1981. The story of this game is about the player defends against swarms of insects.
